BIO

Pat Badt is a painter working with straight parallel lines that build a matrix of color. Pat Badt’s work is inspired by location, filtered through experience and sensibility. She is Professor Emeritus, Cedar Crest College. She has exhibited widely including exhibitions in Brussels, New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. ARTIST STATEMENT

Elevator Pitch: PAINT - I love it! It is color made physical. I am trying to get a sense of something without being something. I paint landscapes of memory.

My process is to paint through a matrix that demands that I stay on the surface of the painting. Gesture is restricted and time is advanced in a kind of geologic stacking of layers. These layers of paint become history and the accumulation of time. Painting =ilters experience through sensibility. The daily routine and the act of painting is my way of being here, by marking and remembering. I make visual the quiet and overlooked. Noticing color and texture is an activity worth paying attention to.
