Forest, Trees, Orchard, Field, all out my window. While painting in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, I have become interested in trees — both domesticated orchards and wild forests. The forest or the trees are not just a physical environment; they are a reflection of the tangled layers of thought, experimentation, and curiosity found within one’s work. They embody the journey of creation, where the act of painting expands into space. Color and line cascade, climb and crawl. The forest, and the landscape in general, is a sanctuary and a maze, something to be both appreciated and protected.
